Dongguk University is Hiring Assistant English
Professors for its Seoul and Ilsan Campuses.

You’ll teach for the Dharma College Foreign Language Center.

Professors will be teaching academic English programs for credit and non credit
courses at the Seoul and Ilsan campuses.

The start date for teaching positions is March, 2017 for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Qualifications for Assistant Professors

You must be a native English speaker from one of these 7 English-speaking nations:
UK, Ireland, Australia, USA, Canada, South Africa or New Zealand.

You must have a Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of full-time teaching experience at
the university or college level in Korea

OR

You must have a Master’s degree with 2 years of full-time teaching experience at
the university or college level in Korea

OR

You must have a PhD degree

If you don’t meet the 3 qualifications above your application WILL NOT be considered.

There are 4 Teaching Positions Available

You may be required to teach at the Seoul and Ilsan campuses.

Teaching hours are 12 hours of credit classes each week. These are mostly General
English Courses.

You will also need to teach 2 hours extra each week of the English Clinic /English Zone.
This work is not paid.

You must be available to teach non-credit courses. This is overtime work and you will
be paid.

You must be available to work for both Dharma College and the university (when needed).

You must be available to teach a maximum of 1 month during the two vacation periods.

This is overtime work and is paid.

Salary

You will receive a basic salary of 3,000,000 KRW per month.

Over time pay for credit classes is 22,000 KRW per hour. These classes are taught
during the day time.

Overtime pay for non-credit classes is 33,000 KRW per hour. These classes are taught
at night.

If you teach non credit classes the hourly pay rate is 35,000 per hour. This is for the
EST English Summer and Winter Camps.

The pay rate for the English Programs is 40,000 KRW per hour.

In addition, performance bonuses will be paid to professors twice per year. The
maximum bonus per semester is 3,500,000 KRW (subject to change).

DCFLC” on the main page at the bottom. At the bottom of the page, you will see a
document named ‘Application Form 2017.doc’, click and download it.)

Enter the name of your position described on your certificate of employment in
“Title/Position” box on your application form.

4. Describe your “teaching philosophy” in one paragraph of verbiage. Maximum
length is 1 paragraph, please.

5. Submit a copy of your passport and ARC (Alien Registration Card).

6. Submit your original copy of your certificate of employment. This is proof of your
work experience in Korea.

7. Submit 2 recommendation letters from 2 Korean employers/schools

8. Submit copies of your university diploma(s) and academic transcripts. For
example your BA, MA or PhD degree(s).

Also submit your academic transcripts from each degree you have obtained.

Each certificate you submit MUST be sealed with Apostille (except if you obtained
degrees from America or Canada.).
