Teach English at KAIST KOREA

KAIST Is hiring ESL instructors In January to teach a 3- week English Camp.

There are 4 teacher openings.

The English as a Foreign Language Program, Department of Humanities and Social Science and

Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology require English camp teachers with superb teaching skills and educational background.

The successful candidates will be instructing gifted high school students who have been accepted to attend KAIST when they graduate high school.

The subject you will be teaching is academic English.

KAIST is a famous post secondary institute of higher learning in Korea. Students attend KAIST from not only, Korea, but from all over the world.

KAIST specializes in science and technology. Students study at KAIST and graduate to become scientists and engineers.

Most of the academic classes at KAIST are taught in English, so English is important to freshmen students in order for them to keep up with their first year classes (in English) as well as their entire academic term at KAIST.

The KAIST campus is in Daejeon. Daejeon is one hour by KTX bullet train from Seoul.

Qualifications include:

Master’s in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Linguistics desired. You must have native fluency in English.

Job Expectations

  • You will contribute to English lesson and materials development before you begin teaching at the camp.
  • You will participate in meetings and scheduled activities when needed.
  • You will evaluate students’ progress and complete and submit final student reports
  • You will take part in an orientation prior to the camp start date.
  • You will teach Monday to Friday from 9:15 am until 9 pm. One Saturday could be required.

This camp position starts on Wednesday, January 14, and finishes on Wednesday, January 24th, 2017 (3 weeks).

You will be paid 38,000 KRW won per hour. The total payment for the 3 weeks of teaching will be 4.5 M KRW.

You will receive sharing accommodation at the KAIST dormitory with a co-teacher.

Teach English at The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in our Language Center.

We have one job opening at KAIST Language Centre. KAIST is a post secondary institution specializing in science, engineering, and research.

KAIST is recognized globally providing superb education, research, state of the art facilities, research grants and living allowances to students.

The teaching salary is $28,000 USD to $38,000 per year. This depends on your qualifications and experience.

Benefits for this teaching position include:

16 weeks of vacation each year
Medical insurance and Korean pension plan. This will be paid 50% by KAIST.
An apartment on KAIS campus. If you choose to live off-campus a 160,000 monthly accommodation allowance is provided.

To qualify, you must have a Master’s degree in TESOL/TEFL, English, Creative Writing or Linguistics.

Previous teaching experience in  English writing, or writing for scientific purposes are assets.

The application deadline is August 21, 2016.

If hired, you will teach 22.5 hours each week plus 6 office hours weekly.

You will teach at the language centre for two months in a row and then have a one month break.

More Information About KAIST 

The KAIST language Center is connected with the KAIST College of Liberal Arts and Convergence Science.

Not only are foreign languages classes offered at KAIST, but translation, proofreading, and interpretation services are provided to help research and administrative organizations in Korea.

If you are an author of published articles and research papers which are to be syndicated to international journals, a proofreading services is provided by English speaking KAIST staff.

Staff will review spelling, grammar, clarity and flow.

When it comes to English, classes in conversation, presentation skills ( with a technical focus) as well as Business English writing skills, and Integration, Research writing programs are available.

English tests such as the iBT TOEFL exam is conducted each month on campus for students.
