The English Language program is seeking experienced, dedicated language professionals. Located in Daejeon, South Korea, Woosong Information College could be your opportunity to apply your expertise at the post-secondary level while experiencing a new culture.
Assistant Professor of English as a Foreign Language (non-tenure track)

Only candidates meeting these requirements will be contacted:
– Must meet the requirements for E-2 or F-visa status.
– Master’s degree and 2 years of verifiable English teaching experience acquired after the master’s degree
– Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of verifiable English teaching experience

Experience must be:
– Full time
– English teaching at a university, college or corporation (not from private academies)
– Primary or secondary level outside of Korea is acceptable with teaching licensure
– Verifiable through letters from employers with explicit dates or certificates of employment

Non-tenure Track General English Language Professor (GEL)
– Teach a variety of credit and noncredit English as Foreign Language classes
– Maximum teaching 20 hours per week, 4 office hours. Classes are taught from Monday to Friday during the morning, afternoon and evening although most classes are in the morning and afternoon. Additional time may be required for professional development and staff activities. Teaching responsibilities include summer and winter intersession classes.

2,700,000 to 3,500,000 Won per month

– Relocation allowance of 40,000 Won per day for up to seven days for those applicants currently living outside of Korea (payable with first pay check).
– Initial contract bonus (an additional 1,000,000 Won upon contract completion) for all first year teachers
– One month’s additional salary is paid as a bonus upon the completion of a second year’s contract and every year contract thereafter.
– For Single teachers, a housing stipend* of 400,000 Won per month is offered, or, if available, a rent-free partially-furnished apartment close to the campus.
For teachers with a spouse and/or family, a housing stipend* of 500,000 Won per month is offered. In the case that two teachers are married to each other and working for Woosong as a couple two housing stipends* of 400,000 Won are offered to the couple.

*The housing stipend does not include housing deposits, which are sometimes sizeable in South Korea. Woosong will not provide advancements or loans to its employees.
– Vacation – 6 weeks paid
– Medical / Dental: National Health Insurance plan
– Private Pension Fund approximately 8% of your salary per month
– Mentoring program for those new to Korea, or Woosong
– Free Korean language classes

– One year contract starting around the beginning of March. (Renewable upon satisfactory performance)

English Teachers Needed For Woosong College Korea

Work for Woosong Information College as an Assistant English Professor of Foreign Language.

This is an amazing opportunity to gain international work experience in Daejeon, Korea.

You’ll teach at the college level and learn Korean culture.


The title of this role is Assistant Professor of English as a Foreign Language.This is a non-tenure track position.

Here’s what you’ll need to apply:

Must be able to apply for an E-2 or F visa status in Korea.

Hold a Master’s degree and have two years of proven experience teaching English after you completed your MA degree.

If you only have a Bachelor’s degree, you must have 5 years of proven English teaching experience.

Your teaching experience must be in a full-time teaching capacity at a university, college or corporation. Teaching experience at a private language academy i.e hagwon is not acceptable.

If you taught at the primary or secondary school level in a country outside of Korea with a valid teaching license, this experience is acceptable.

Your teaching experience must be proven by employer letters with dates and certifications of employment.

About The Job

This is a non-tenure GEL Position. GEL stands for General English Language Professor.

Your classes will include some credit and non credit EFL classes at the college.

You will teach 20 hours per week and hold 4 office hours per week.

Your work schedule will be Monday to Friday mornings, afternoons and evenings. The majority of your teaching will occur in the mornings and afternoons.

Some professional development and employee activities will be required.

Summer and winter teaching programs are a requirement for teachers as needed.

Your Salary:

The teaching salary ranges between 2.7 M – 3.5 M KRW per month.


You will receive a relocation allowance for up to 7 days if you are coming to Korea from another country. The allowance is 40,000 KRW per day. This will be paid in full on your first college pay check.

When you complete your 1 year teaching contract, you’ll receive a 1.0 M KRW contract bonus. All first year teachers are entitled to this bonus.

If you renew your contract and complete a second year at the College, you’ll receive a contract completion bonus equal to your monthly salary.

If you are a single teacher, you’ll receive a housing allowance of 400,000 KRW per month.

If the College has accommodations available, then you will get a rent free partially furnished apartment nearby the campus.

If you have a family such as a spouse and or children, you will receive a 500,000 KRW housing allowance.

If you and your spouse are both teaching at the College, you will both receive 400,000 housing allowance per person.

The housing allowances do not include key money or housing deposits.

Please note that housing deposits can be significant in Korea. Woosong College does not offer loans or advancements in pay to its teachers.

Your vacation period will be 6 weeks paid.

You will get medical and dental coverage as part of the national health insurance plan.

Deductions for these welfare programs will be about 3.5% of your monthly salary.

You will be enrolled in a private pension fund. The College will deduct 8% of your monthly salary for this.

You will be able to attend Korean classes for free.

If this is your first time in Korea, you can join a Korean mentoring program to learn about the work culture, Korean culture and so forth.
Your teaching contract at Woosong will be for 1 year beginning in March, 2017.

If you have good teaching performance, you have the option to renew your contract for a second year.
